1. The first time I got laid off it was devastating. I sobbed. This is the 3rd time, and I can't help but just laugh
2. Unlike those first two times however, I was not escorted out the door carrying a sad little paper box of my personal effects. The studio is closing December 31, and we all have our jobs in the meantime
3. If we last until then and don't find other employment, we'll get a relatively generous severance
4. The timing is somewhat bad. I'm leaving for Miami tomorrow night and I have a cruise planned for mid-January. Fortunately it's paid for already, but there still will be other expenses involved
5. In the plus column with the month of January pretty much open, I can spend lots of time working out and getting in shape for said cruise
6. However, the last time I was laid off I was very industrious the first couple weeks, but it's amazing how easy it is to waste time, when you feel like you have all the time in the world. I'm hoping I don't fall into that trap
7. How long will it take me to find a job? A friend in the same field as me has been hunting since she lost her job in July. Her unfruitful search has got me very nervous.

Man, take the severence. Then in January you can look for a job whilst preparing for your super fun cruise. Oh, and hanging out with someone who just had a baby. Ahem.
Yea definitely take the severance.
And maybe that California offer isn't so bad, all of a sudden??
Agreed. Take the severance. And, if it makes you feel slightly better about your job search, said friend in the same field did find work. Sort of. It's contract work. But work nonetheless. ;-)
